WLGA congratulates GCSE learners in the “most challenging of years”

Thursday, 20 August 2020

The WLGA has today congratulated learners receiving their GCSE results in an extraordinary year.

Summer exams were cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus crisis, with qualification awards being based on teacher assessments.

Councillor Ian Roberts (Flintshire), WLGA Education Spokesperson said:

“I would like to congratulate all learners receiving their results today on their hard work and perseverance. This year has been far from easy, and you have had to make many sacrifices. Today, take time to take pride in your efforts and achievements. If you didn’t get the grades you’d hoped for, remember that there is plenty of advice and support available on Working Wales.”

“Parents, teachers, friends and school staff across Wales are all key parts of the education system. I would like to thank them all for the support that they’ve all given to learners in this most challenging of years and in very difficult circumstances.”
