About the Role
In 2026, the Senedd, also known as the Welsh Parliament, will expand its number of Members from 60 to 96, based on 16 six member constituencies. This will bring significant change to how the Senedd operates and there will be knock-on impacts for a range of bodies who work closely with the Senedd, including the WLGA and local government.
This is a newly created post within the WLGA and the postholder will lead on engagement with the Senedd (and other Parliaments across the UK) on behalf of WLGA and act as the main point of contact for coordinating requests for information, evidence and engagement from WLGA and local councils, working closely with relevant policy leads. The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining an overview of the work of the Senedd, including the work of the Committees, and keep members, colleagues and councils updated.
This will be a key role in ensuring the WLGA and local government are able to maintain positive working relationships with all Members of the Senedd and their officials and in providing support in ensuring local government’s views and voice are effectively represented and heard in influencing the work of the Senedd.
