About the role

The Policy Officer will lead on Planning matters for the WLGA, reporting to the Director, whilst also supporting the Team Manager, Europe and Regeneration on issues relating to economic development and regeneration. Demands in these service areas, working with councils and Welsh Government, have increased as a result of:

  • Policies and regulations impacting on planning and development (e.g. TAN 15; nutrient management).
  • City and Growth Deals being progressed in each of the four regions of Wales.
  • the formation of Corporate Joint Committees at a regional level (including responsibilities for Strategic Development Plans and Economic Well-being).
  • Increased liaison with UK Government over its Levelling-up policies and funding streams.
