A Guide for New Councillors in Wales

To undertake the role of a councillor effectively takes a significant amount of time, personal commitment, patience and resilience. This Councillors Guide can help by introducing you to local government and to your work as a councillor. It will provide you with reference information that will help you in your early days of office. It has been written by the WLGA, with input from councils, specifically for councillors elected in May 2017. If you have questions relating to the law or policy in your authority, officers locally will be able to provide you with further information.
